Welcome to Lakeland Trauma Therapy.

Where "Compassionate Care Meets Clinically Effective Treatments."

Life is filled with so many challenges. Sometimes the struggles feel like they are more than we can handle, and we just need an outside ear, an impartial listener. No matter what the challenges, there is hope. Depression, anxiety, combat related leftovers, sexual or physical abuse, marriage troubles, parenting, affairs, grief and loss, infertility, stress. These and many more struggles can be successfully overcome. I specialize in two therapies clinically proven to be effective in dealing with two of life’s biggest challenges.

The first treatment helps with trauma, both big and small. It is called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy or EMDR Therapy for short. EMDR Therapy helps the brain process these events in a way that unlocks the unproductive emotional content that invades our present experience. Anything in life that has high emotional content can keep us stuck emotionally in the place and time of the original incident. We get suck with the same sights, sounds, smells, thinking, and body sensations, still active and out of place. It is as if a part of us gets stuck in trauma time. EMDR Therapy helps our brain get all of us in the same time zone.

The second deals with relationship troubles, ranging from communication issues to infidelity (cheating) and is called Emotionally Focused Therapy or EFT for short. EFT has been proven to help couples to significantly improve the quality of their relationship and the results last long term. It helps couples create a new kind of relationship, a relationship where we feel safe enough to ask for what we need from our partner and your partner feels safe enough to reach back and meet the need.

I have been trained and Certified by the international organizations that oversee the training and development of these two treatments. You can read more about each of these in more detail here.
